The Soccer Academy at Williams

Matt Davis

Assistant Coach

Matt Davis joined the Williams Men’s Soccer coaching staff as the Ephs’ first assistant and recruiting coordinator in August 2019.

Davis comes to Williams from Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, Pennsylvania, where he was a highly successful head coach of both the men’s and women’s programs.

After being named the head coach of both programs in 2014, Davis guided the men’s team to a 61-33-6 record, five consecutive conference tournament appearances, and an AMCC Tournament Championship and NCAA Appearance in 2015. On the women’s side, Davis led the Mounties to a 52-37-5 record and three conference tournament appearances including the 2018 AMCC Tournament championship game. His teams broke numerous school records and were regularly recognized for their academic and athletic success by the United Soccer Coaches.

A graduate of Albright College in Reading, PA, Davis was a four-year starter and two-year captain on defense and in the midfield for the Lions. In 2010, Davis helped lead Albright to their first nine-win season in over a decade and was named a CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine College Division All-District Second Team selection.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Matt Davis to Williams and Cole Field,” said Erin Sullivan ‘96. “Matt is an accomplished head coach in his own right, a tireless recruiter, and a proven winner. His achievements in revamping the men’s and women’s programs at Mount Aloysius in a few short seasons are nothing short of remarkable.”

Davis will take over the role of recruiting coordinator and be involved in many of the program’s day to day operations. His recruiting acumen, coaching experience, and overall drive to succeed are self-evident and will add considerably to the Ephs coaching staff.

“Matt impressed everyone he encountered in our search process and is very driven to recruit, coach, and mentor high achieving scholar-athletes at Williams.. We believe he will be an important contributor to continuing our upward momentum and pursuit of excellence on the national stage."

Davis is a member of the United Soccer Coaches organization. He has earned his National Diploma as well as Level I and II Goalkeeping Diplomas. Additionally, he has served on the Division III Men's Soccer Regional Advisory Committee for the Great Lakes Region.
