Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator

Nick Thompson joined the Ephs coaching staff in 2018 and made his return to the college soccer sidelines after completing his professional playing career. 

Thompson began his duties in August 2018 and helped guide the Ephs back to the NESCAC Tournament title match and NCAA Tournament in his first season at Cole field. 

Thompson brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the Purple Valley. His coaching resume includes assistant coaching stints at Gordon College, Navy, NC State, and California Baptist, and one season as head coach of Eastern Nazarene College. Thompson has also been involved with top level club programs throughout his coaching career and has been on staff at recruiting camps at Messiah, Navy, and the University of Akron. 

Thompson attended Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania graduating in 2011 with a B.A. in Sport Management. From 2007 to 2010, Thompson made 99 career appearances for the Falcons, notching 54 goals and 18 assists, while winning three NCAA Division III national titles.

During his senior season at Messiah, Thompson earned First Team All-Commonwealth Conference, First Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region, Second Team All-American, First Team All-American, and Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year honors.

Upon graduating from Messiah, Thompson began his professional playing career with the Carolina Railhawks of the North American Soccer League. He also recently played two seasons with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Thompson is the oldest of four brothers to attend and play soccer at Messiah. Prior to his highly decorated career at Messiah, Thompson was a 2006 NSCAA All-Region and All-American selection out of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.

Thompson will serve as the Ephs recruiting coordinator while overseeing a wide range of responsibilities for the Williams Men’s Soccer program including the program's recruiting clinics.
